I'm sure most of you aware of the Dr Jart Water Fuse Beauty Balm which has received copious amounts of attention in the blogosphere but today I'm reviewing this gem which is yet to gain the recognition it's sister has. I have tried both the Water Fuse and obviously the Platinum but after trialing both alongside each other, I think I prefer this one. The consistency of this balm is thicker and it has slightly more coverage but is definitely still a BB cream not a foundation. I have relatively normal skin with the odd dry patch and I found the Water Fuse balm to almost highlight my dry areas, whereas the more dewy finish of this one felt like it was nourishing. Now, this balm is actually targeted at aging skin (I'm only 18) so don't be put off by this as it really doesn't affect the finish and purpose of the product on younger skin in my opinion. To add to the brilliance of this fantastic balm it's not too dark for my skin! I'm quite fair and most BB creams I've tried in the past have just ended up looking orange or too dark so to have finally found a "one shade suits all" product that doesn't make me look like I've had a dodgy tanning experience is amazing. The only thing I would say with this is that if you have oily skin this may not be for you; its leaves a very dewy finish and as the consistency is quite thick some may think it feels too heavy on their skin.

Today I thought I'd share with you a few books I've collected over the past couple of years that I think are worth a mention in the beauty and fashion blogging world. The first on the pile - Hello Gorgeous  is filled with pages plastered in vintage, American beauty adverts from the 40s, 50s and 60s. A great little book that deserves it's place on the beside table. The second may not be to everyone's liking but if you love history and beauty like I do, this is more than worth the money. Beauty and Cosmetics 1550-1950, Sarah Jane Downing goes over the many eras of beauty and society that feature throughout this time period. This offers fascinating snippets of information whilst incorporating beautiful paintings and images.
One I've had the longest and one that's been very well loved is The Fashion Book. A typical coffee table book but also a great one to dip in and out of just to take a look at some of the great photography and illustrations. I even have post-it's on my favourite ones (sad, I know). This one would make a lovely gift for a friend or yourself! Finally, 100 Years of Fashion Illustration. I absolutely love fashion illustration, the quirky, exaggerated features and bold colours are a feast for the eyes and this book won't disappoint. It features a very wide range of artists/designers and styles that will keep you happy for hours.

So in a few weeks time Google Friend Connect will be no more. Admittedly, I have never been a great fan of GFC but I know a lot of you are. When I first started following a lot of blogs I heard about Bloglovin and decided to use this as my platform for following and with the end of GFC on the horizon most are needing to make the change.

Bloglovin is a fantastic alternative for those of you who rely on GFC. It's very simple to create an account and import all the blogs you already follow. The design is clear and minimalist and after using GFC very briefly, I think Bloglovin runs more quickly and smoother.  

It only takes a few minutes and will save you losing all the blogs you already follow!

Today is a short and sweet post about The Red Lippy Project. From 9th-15th of June this lip lacquered project is aimed at increasing awareness about cervical cancer screening and raising funds for research.
